We’re finally getting the first real snow of the season so that means that once again I will be pulling out my ancient pair of snow boots to go do battle with it.

Kinja'd!!!

They’re made in Canada so you know they’re good!

At least the shells are ancient, the liners have been replaced numerous times. It’s going to be a sad day when I finally have to replace these things. I’ll have to pour out a Kokanee in mourning .

Definitely not so wintry here:

It’s good I’m not allowed to ski for the rest of the season, because I’d be sad. Unfortunately, I’m not cleared for cycling either so I can’t do so much with that nice weekend. Maybe some hiking or something...

I recently bought a set of Sorels. Hopefully the China quality matches the old Canada quality, though I doubt it

We’re sitting in the upper 20s and the snow should end up being 6-8 inches today with some more coming in tomorrow and Sunday. After that the temps head down below zero for the lows. I am NOT looking forward to that.

I thought Kokanee would be more fitting to mourn Canadian boots, but I’m all for pouring out Ranier. I never could stand that stuff. Great commercials, though.

I’m jealous, send some of that to the west side.

When I was a little kid in eastern WA, I would always have a pair of cowboy boots for the winter, so I could slide easier on ice.

I think they’re probably fine but I doubt they will quite measure up to these things. The liners I have bought recently aren’t quite the quality that they used to be but they work well enough.

You can just come on over. I’ll even let you clear my driveway. What fun!!

At least you didn’t have to retire them for fashion reasons! (I had a pair of white Sorels that I held on to until the I couldn’t ignore the comments any longer)

My Sorel winter boots and construction boots  are 25 years old, absolutely love them. I think Columbia bought ‘em out a while back?

Yeah, the style is pretty much “work boot”. Not very trendy.

Yeah, i t’s been a while since Columbia bought them. Wikipedia says 2000 so yours are pre-Colu mbian art too.   I bought these back in the 80s so they’ve been around the block a bit.

Spokane flight tonight is cancelled. My flight to Kalispell is delayed 1 hr. Hope I make it home tonight.

I do too. Right now my stepdaughter is stuck on a bus that slid in to a car. She’s been off work since 2:00 and hasn’t made it home yet. I’d go get her but traffic is so snarled that I don’t think it would improve the situation.

If I moved out that way and bought a house (kind of a weird thought, being able to buy a house), on the day I bought a lawnmower I’d also buy a snowblower.

I remember when I was a kid, I inherited snow shoveling duty when I was 9 or 10.  Somehow, I didn’t mind it, but I am a dork for playing in the snow.

We went from a one car garage and driveway to a three car. I bought the snowblower as soon as they had deals on them. I enjoyed shoveling the old driveway even if it was a bit steep but there’s no way I was going to do this one on a regular basis.

Maybe start the project from hell and put in a heated driveway, shouldn’t take more than a few years DIY.

Relatively affordable houses and seasons, maybe I need to start looking east.

The housing market isn’t as affordable as it used to be but compared to the west side anything would seem cheap.

I am sure some westsiders are emigrating already.  Still, when I look at what 250-300K will buy me, I am aghast.   Of course, the material I like (preserved older house, south hill) is also some of the most desirable.
